Key To Building An Online Business – Green Grass

Welcome back friends! šŸ‘‹

You ever have moments when youā€™re posting some motivational stuff on social media, and it ends up helping you more than anything? Iā€™ve had that happen to me on many occasions, but this time around it was different.

Iā€™ll fill you in but first, if you havenā€™t read my last post, you can by going here, I share some Facebook lead ad info and a resource I use to stay focused.

Next, hereā€™s a little update regarding my Facebook lead ad.

Facebook Lead Ad Update šŸ“²

The Facebook lead ad continues and after 15 days I analyzed some of the data to assess how itā€™s performing. Hereā€™s what I came up with:

  • AverageĀ clicksĀ perĀ day = 15Ā days/35Ā clicksā€‹ = 33Ā clicksĀ perĀ day
  • AverageĀ leadsĀ perĀ day = 15Ā days/27Ā leads ā€‹= 8Ā leadsĀ perĀ day
  • Average cost per click = 1.87 after 15 days
  • Average cost per lead = 2.64 after 15 days
  • Total number of leads after 15 days = 27
  • 1 lead unsubscribed right after receiving the free offer and a 2nd unsubscribed after receiving the 5th email

I havenā€™t yet had a chance to check the email open rates but that will be next on my list of data to capture. This would allow ne to know if my email subject lines are working well.

As I write this post I have 34 leads. These arenā€™t the greatest results but itā€™s a start and my first attempt, so itā€™s understandable. We start off and improve as we learn with time.

Whatā€™s next with the ad? šŸ¤·

I submitted all my data along with an image of my ad to be reviewed by one of my mentors in our groupā€™s daily mentoring and received some feedback on video.

I was informed that click to lead ratio was quite good and near 75% conversion rate, however the number of clicks was low. If I could get more clicks at s 75% conversion it would increase my leads considerably and lower my cost per click and lead.

The suggestion is for me to first try to change the image on the ad and form. If there is a more engaging image it is known to increase clicks. If that doesnā€™t work, then we can look at changing the copy.

My mentor suggested that I take 15 minutes and scroll through my FB feed and examine the ads that I see. Then take screen shots of those I find catchy and contemplate why they got my attention. This is to help me get a better perspective on the type of image I should try.

When I have an image ready with some sample slogans, Iā€™ll send those back into the daily mentoring to get feedback before I make the changes to the ad.

Off to a good start! šŸ‘

I started working on the FB ad suggestions today and looked through many ads on my own FB feed. It seems the ones that catch my eye most are ads that have people in them, especially people looking at the camera.

I decided to ask on Chat GPT what would be the best option for an ad image, and this is what it said:

ā€œUsing an image with a person in a Facebook lead ad is generally more effective at catching attention. Here are a few reasons why:

  1. Human Connection: People are naturally drawn to faces and human expressions. An image with a person can create an emotional connection and make the ad feel more relatable.
  2. Trust and Credibility: Featuring a person, especially if they are looking at the camera, can convey trust and authenticity, which are crucial for lead generation.
  3. Engagement: Images with people tend to have higher engagement rates. They can evoke emotions and reactions, encouraging viewers to take action.
  4. Storytelling: A person in the image can help tell a story or demonstrate how your product or service can be used in real life, making it more compelling.

However, it’s essential to consider your target audience and the context of your ad. Testing both types of images (with and without people) can provide valuable insights specific to your campaign. A/B testing can help determine which image resonates best with your audience.ā€

I guess it lines up with why I was more attracted to the image with people in it!

My next step is to come up with some slogans I can add to an image and then use Canva to find and create the image I want. This should take me through the weekend to complete and hope to have it done by Monday to submit for review.

What about that motivational stuff? šŸ¤Æ

So, I want to come back to the motivational experience I had and share it with you. I try to share motivational post daily on my Facebook business page, some I make myself and dome I share from other pages I follow.

On this occasion the post I found was on my wifeā€™s FB page and it reads ā€œToo many people think the grass is greener somewhere else, but the grass is greener where you water it.ā€

Iā€™ve heard and read variations of this saying before but this day I guess it got a little deeper for me. This was my nest thought ā€œThe issue isn’t the grass, it’s your lack of effort. Even if you chose other grass, the same problem would occur… your effort makes the difference not the grass!ā€

I started to think deeper in relation to the ā€œeffortā€ that needs to be made and on what?

As I am feeling better physically and mentally with the efforts Iā€™m making on my health am I making the best effort on the most important tasks in running my business?

I think I can improve on that. I determine how green my grass is by the efforts I make, the work I put in and the quality of that work. Iā€™m solely responsible for this.

If I decide to just stop what Iā€™m doing and go start on other grass then I am bringing those same efforts, work habits, mentality with me. It will only be a matter of time and Iā€™ll find that that grass will end up like the previous grass.

This is because the issue is not the grass itā€™s US! As we develop ourselves and do work to improve our business, our health, our mindset, weā€™ll maintain healthy grass and not have to jump from lawn to lawn!

All this talk about grass, I hope this makes sense šŸ˜Š

Denny, your post really hit home! The analogy of watering your own grass is such a powerful reminder that success comes from consistent effort and focus.

Your journey with the Facebook lead ad is a testament to learning and adapting.

    Hi Denny,

Thanks for the FB ads update. I’m learning tons from your FB journey. I think you’re right; it’ll take more data to draw mathematically significant conclusions. Green grass takes lots of watering, fertilizing, and cutting – it’s a never-ending job. Your metaphor is much like the “two wolves” story I’ve always liked. A good wolf and a bad wolf in a fight. Which one wins? The one you feed. Looking forward to your next FB update.

    1. Denny Medeiros

      Hi Michael,
Thanks so much for your comment and feedback!
The green grass is a lot of work, not just watering.
I forgot about the two wolves story, thanks for the reminder.
      Keep in touch šŸ™‚

Denny, I like how you mix in the recounting of your daily tasks with the motivational stuff.

To take this greener grass a step further, people don’t often think that there will be new undiscovered challenges to take on – in addition to what they already know.

I’ll be happy to share your post to my social media platforms.

  7. Marc

    Hi Denny,
Your blog entry this week is so “ƀ propos” for me!
I’ve been reviewing the last few weeks time spent at work, on my Affiliate Marketing business and on the music application my business partners and I have been working on since I-don’t-know-how-long and the frightening thing I’ve managed to take out of all of it is that I’m everywhere at any given time! Seems as if I’ve got no structure for the work I need to be doing!
For a guy who’s who life was about being structured, it really hit hard. So back to basics; getting my daily agenda filed out and more importantly: FOLLOWING IT!
All the best and thanks for the reminder!

    1. Denny Medeiros

      Hi Marc,
I’m so glad my post could help you! It can be so easy to get scattered on our daily tasks, I know that too šŸ™‚
I have to use my daily tracker to set my day up and then reflect at end of days to see what worked/or didn’t, what I learned, and what I could do to prep for the next day. If I don’t, I’m all over the place too. Keep it up, there’s going to be more days in the future you may feel scattered, but keep building the routine of following and agenda. All the best šŸ™‚
      Denny

Congratulations on achieving 27 leads in just over two weeks. Personally, I’d be very happy with that. I can understand that things might improve if a human face was used in the ad. It makes perfect sense.
I do like the adaptation of the old grass being greener phrase. I guess we’re all guilty of thinking that sometimes.
I do like the way you’re sharing your experiences with the lead ad; it is great inspiration to us. I’m sure you’re going to be achieving much more. All the best.

    1. Denny Medeiros

      Hi Andy,
Thanks so much for you comment and encouragement! I am quite pleased with 27 leads, however, knowing results can be better, I like to get the best cost per lead as possible šŸ™‚ I’m so glad you’re getting inspiration from following the my lead ad experience, I’ll continue sharing as details are available. Thanks again for following šŸ™‚

Denny, Great post! It is refreshing to see you refer to taking responsibility for your efforts, most people won’t. Keep moving forward with that FB ad it will payoff well for you. Here’s to keeping your grass bright and green!

    1. Denny Medeiros

      Hi Ken,
Thanks for commenting and I appreciate your encouragement!
I learned about and use to teach about the “Locus of Control” in helping people improve life and career.
Taking responsibility for me is taking ownership. The flip side is giving up ownership.
I’m planning to write about this in my blog in July.
      Thanks again šŸ™‚
      Denny

  11. Eleanor Hope

    Hi Denny,

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your latest update and motivational reflections. Your honesty about the learning process and the information you gathered from your Facebook lead ad are very useful

Congratulations on taking the plunge and analyzing your ad data so meticulously. Your breakdown of the metrics provides a clear picture of where you stand and highlights areas for improvement.

Loved that you recognize that the issue isnā€™t the grass but the effort you put in is spot on.

Your journey with Facebook ads and the deeper reflection on effort and growth are inspiring and motivating.

Looking forward to your next update and continued success!
